Dr. Glenn Kaplan joined Radiology Partners (RP) in June 2021 as Senior Vice President of Operations.

As both a healthcare administration executive and board-certified radiologist, Dr. Kaplan has valuable experience leading healthcare practice systems with a unique combination of business, clinical and technology expertise. Before joining RP, he oversaw a team of 200 radiologists covering 50 facilities within a fully-integrated radiology market, offering hospital-based, imaging center, interventional, mammography and teleradiology services.

With more than 20 years in healthcare leadership, we spoke to Dr. Kaplan about what attracted him to make the move to RP.

“RP has differentiated itself with its culture. The culture is real, and you can feel it.”

Culture

RP’s “One Practice, Locally Led” principle is something Dr. Kaplan believes sets RP apart. “I’ve seen a lot of models, and I can unequivocally tell you that there is no better model than allowing local practices to lead their teams,” he explained. “Local practice autonomy is essential for ensuring the best outcomes and relationships.” RP’s operating philosophy is simple: combining local and national strengths, RP offers the best of both, which allows local practices to maintain autonomy while tapping into the investments, resources and support offered by RP.

People

“The people at RP are of high-integrity and a great assembly of talent,” Dr. Kaplan continued. “One of my greatest attractions to RP was the collection of clinical and support teammates talent across the practice. I’ve learned over the years that if you want to be successful, surround yourself with great people and be willing to listen and learn from them.” RP is invested in attracting the best radiologists and support teammates and retaining them by prioritizing professional growth and leadership development opportunities. In fact, RP was recently recognized as a Great Place to Work for the second consecutive year—a testament to the practice’s commitment to its radiologists and support teams.

Mission-driven, Physician-led

RP is physician-led at every level of the practice, and Dr. Kaplan believes this offers a valuable perspective. “Like many leaders at RP, I continue to practice clinically and will continue to do so. For the last 10 years, I’ve been a full-time administrator while averaging more than 5,000 RVUs annually as a part-timer. When I say I know what radiologists are going through, I truly do! In addition, there are ample opportunities for practice presidents to have a say in the practice. Perhaps what excites me most from a physician leadership standpoint is the build-out of the Office of the Chief Medical Officer. We now have 15 radiology leaders with significant roles at a national level, varying from IT/AI to operations to clinical value, that give physicians an even bigger say in the future of our practice.”

Additionally, because RP is singularly focused on radiology, all resources are dedicated to its common goal, he said. “We’re here to transform radiology. Being in a single-specialty practice means everyone is speaking the same language and focused on the same target.”

With all these things in mind, Dr. Kaplan is excited for the future of radiology and how RP is positioned for this future. “The prioritization of building a positive culture and bringing the best people together is truly special.”
