Dr. Rich Heller, Radiology Partners (RP) Associate Chief Medical Officer for Health Policy and Communications, presents “Surprise Medical Billing & The No Surprises Act: More Surprises Than You’d Think.”

In this two-part presentation, Dr. Heller walks us through the basics of so-called surprise medical billing, the promises and problems with the No Surprises Act (NSA) and its impacts on patients, physician practices and our healthcare industry.

In part one, Dr. Heller explains so-called surprise medical billing and describes how the No Surprises Act and its independent dispute resolution (IDR) process work.

In part two, Dr. Heller discusses how the balance and efficiency Congress intended for the No Surprises Act has been disrupted through the implementation of the law, why the implementation prompted numerous lawsuits and how the implementation threatens providers, practices and most importantly, patients.
