Radiology Partners recently hosted more than 80 radiology fellows and third- and fourth-year residents at Transform, an event to connect trainees with each other and with radiology leaders to learn more about our industry, radiology’s place in healthcare and the mission of RP.

More than 50 RP leaders gathered with trainees and their guests for this year’s event at the Vdara Hotel in Las Vegas. Transform started the way RP begins many of its gatherings: celebrating a patient save. Dr. Masis Iskbay, resident at the University of California, San Francisco, presented “Alternatives to Surgery: Splenic Embolization in Less Than 20 Minutes to Save a Life.”

The weekend event included educational presentations about our industry and specialty. Dr. Anthony Gabriel, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at RP, shared about the mission and vision of our practice; Dr. Sriyesh Krishnan, Vice President of Operations for Greensboro Radiology, spoke about artificial intelligence (AI) and innovation in our space; and Dr. Rich Heller, Associate Chief Medical Officer (ACMO) for Communications and Health Policy, presented on healthcare policy.

Transform also allowed for interactive breakout sessions, where RP leaders led discussions in smaller groups, focusing on professional development and connection with trainees. Dr. Eric Rohren, ACMO for Clinical Research and Education, spoke on academia vs. private practice; Kati Brady, Associate Vice President and Assistant General Counsel at RP, shared valuable information about navigating employment agreements; Dr. Ashok Gupta of Desert Radiology discussed radiology economics; and Dr. Chris Mattern, ACMO for Radiologist Experience, presented on the importance of the radiologist’s leadership.

There was also plenty of networking and fun! Attendees praised the event in the post-event survey:

  • “Excellent opportunity to meet with many people in the field of radiology.”
  • “I enjoyed getting to meet other trainees and attendings across the country. I learned a lot about different practices and got a lot of good overall life advice!”
  • “Great networking opportunities. Informative sessions on economics and business aspects of medicine.”
  • “I like how well organized it was, and how it was a great way to meet RP radiologists and learn about the company’s goals.”
  • “Loved it. Attending and staff were very friendly, informative and family-like.”
