RP One donates $66,000 to two Indian non-governmental organizations, Wadhwani Initiative for Sustainable Healthcare and Asha

(EL SEGUNDO, Calif.) Sept. 7, 2021 – At the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Radiology Partners (RP), a leading radiology practice in the U.S., established RP One, the Practice’s teammate assistance fund. Since its launch, RP One has provided numerous grants to RP radiologists and support teammates experiencing emergent financial hardship. While RP One was initially established to support RP teammates during the COVID-19 pandemic, the fund now transcends the pandemic and can be used for individual hardships, emergencies and disasters.

“RP One personifies our values, practice principles and culture,” said Ari Fleischauer, Head of Human Resources for RP. “Amid a global health crisis, we are committed to supporting each other. While RP as an organization is comprised of dozens of locally-led groups across the country, we are ultimately one practice, and we band together and help one another during times of need.”

RP One is funded by RP radiologists and support teammates who voluntarily contribute to the fund. At its inception in April 2020, RP made an initial matching contribution of $1 million on the first $100,000 of teammate contributions. To-date, the Practice has raised nearly $2 million and has issued approximately $450,000 in grants. A committee of radiologists and support teammates is charged with reviewing requests, completing due diligence and issuing grants. RP One received 501(c)(3) status in the first quarter of 2021, which allows contributions to RP One to be tax deductible and allows RP One to extend its charitable impact.

In May 2021, as India experienced thousands of COVID-19 deaths per day, RP leaders mobilized its Aid to India campaign through RP One.

“I was deeply saddened by the COVID outbreak in India this spring and summer, and while I wanted to provide direct support, I felt helpless by the sheer magnitude of cases, deaths and devastation,” said Dr. Krishna Nallamshetty, RP Associate Chief Medical Officer for Clinical Value. “As I spoke with colleagues across the country, I realized I was not alone in my desire to help. When a group of Indian American RP radiologists presented the idea to RP leaders and the RP One team, the ‘Aid to India’ campaign was born.”

To-date, the Aid to India campaign has raised $66,000 to support local non-governmental organizations in India that aid with recent COVID-19 surges. Contributions of $33,000 per organization were recently distributed to Wadhwani Initiative for Sustainable Healthcare (WISH) and Asha. WISH is an Indian non-profit organization with a mission to scale innovations for creating an equitable healthcare system and make quality primary healthcare available and accessible to the underserved populations. Since the COVID surge in India, WISH has worked with COVID Care Centers to isolate COVID patients for pandemic control and prevention of transmission and provided important care such as oxygen, proper nutrition and regular vital checks. Asha tackles issues that trap many in poverty and supports empowerment, healthcare, education, financial inclusion and environmental improvements. Since the COVID spike in India, Asha has served hundreds of COVID patients in India, offering medical care, groceries and income to purchase necessities—particularly for single women and disabled citizens. Additionally, Asha is focused on vaccine education, care for those with long COVID and technology access for students who need IT labs for their education.

RP One continues to raise funds for its teammate assistance fund and for its Aid to India campaign. To contribute to RP One, email RPOne@radpartners.com. Anyone can contribute to RP One, and contributions can be accepted via Venmo, PayPal, ACH electronic funds payment or personal check.
